Interests
My interests include reading and writing science fiction & fantasy, cybersecurity, swimming, trail running, pilates and pole fitness, and looking after my fluffy kittens and fluffy dog. I’m a big fan of chocolate, the t.v. show West Wing, and everything fantasy from Gideon the Ninth to Lord of the Rings. At any one time, most of my interests fit into three categories: Writing, Cybersecurity, and Pets.
Writing
My biggest sources of writing inspiration are music, workouts, time outside, and reading other stories. Science fiction and fantasy is my bread and butter, but I also enjoy reading science nonfiction, memoirs, comedies, victorian gothics, romances, self-help, economics, thrillers, mysteries, you name it! If you recommend something to me, I’ll read it.
I’m currently writing two separate fantasy trilogies. One trilogy is a high fantasy and the other is a contemporary portal fantasy.
Cybersecurity
I love working with others to solve problems and I’ve found cybersecurity fascinating ever since I first read “Little Brother” by Cory Doctorow in middle school. I help organizations contain, investigate, and build back stronger from ransomware attacks, business email compromises, and network intrusions. I’m CompTIA Security+ and GIAC GCLD certified and I’ve taken classes in system development and implementation (C#, Java, PHP, MySQL, HTML/CSS) as well as cybersecurity, finance and accounting, and data analysis. High-level, cybersecurity is perfect for me because I’m a detail oriented and very curious perfectionist.
Pets
My kitties and my dog are my life. Rory (the lady, aurora lu, and snowsheep) is the most majestic and gracious fluffball ever. My kitties include Hopper (the good boy, hop a doodle doo, three-legged orange cannonball), and Robin (the void, moon-moon, and phantom of the opera (she likes to sing)). They’re purrfect, I’m not kitten you, please don’t leave meow.
